About

Zion Hill Baptist Church is an Independent Baptist Church in Greenville, S.C. Our purpose for existence is to propagate the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Our church has a strong emphasis on missions. We help support various missionaries around the world and Church planting missionaries here in the States. Throughout the year, missionaries are in attendance in our services and give updates on their ministries. Each year we have our annual Missions Conference.

Our Pastor

Pastor Danny Moore has been our pastor since October 1997. He was saved in 1971, Married to Janice Moore since 1975, together they have three children and five grandchildren. They both give a wonderful testimony how they were saved and surrendered to the Lord to do whatever He wants in their lives. Pastor Danny surrendered to preach in October 1978. Graduated from Tabernacle Baptist College in 1983. God called he and his family as missionaries to Brazil, S.A. They began their ministry there in August 1984, where they studied the language of Portuguese. Upon graduation from language school they moved to the interior of the state of Sao Paulo and served there until their first furlough in 1988. Upon returning to Brazil they helped other missionaries who needed short term furloughs. January 1990 the Lord led them to the city of Sao Joaquim da Barra, S.P. where they started a church. The church grew and in the time span of seven years they were able to purchase property, build a building and see many come to Christ. In October 1997 God led the pastor and his family back to the States to become pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church until present day.

Our History

Zion Hill Baptist Church was organized as a Baptist Mission on December 2, 1970 and on December 5, 1970 the church adopted the name of Zion Hill Baptist Mission.

June 6, 1971 the church was organized into Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Pastors of the church:

Ron Lesley: December 2, 1970- September 12, 1976

George Thompson: November 1976- June 1978

James Ashe: July 1978- June 1987

Doug Ballew: November 1987- July 1997

Danny Moore: October 1997 – Present

September 1998 the church held a Faith Promise Missions Conference. And from that point God began to bless the church in amazing ways. The church purchased the property beside us on Anderson road so we could have room to grow. The old house on the property became the fellowship Hall and an upstairs room as a Prophet’s Chamber. As the church grew in number and ministries the need arose for more room, so the church began the process of remodeling the sanctuary and fellowship hall in 2010

In January 2011, the theme for the year was “I BELIEVE” this was a great year of trusting the Lord and following Him wherever He would lead. The next year the Lord opened up another property two miles from the church building on the same Hwy. In June 2013 we were, by the Grace and Power of God, able to purchase this place. This property has 18+ acres of land, three buildings which consist of the church building with a two story Sunday School department, Gym and another building connected to the gym. In this building which served as a Daycare is now being used in what we call Zion Hill Baptist Church Mission Suites. God has been good to us in all this. We call this our “MIRACLE” You can see these buildings on the webpage.

Our Beliefs

WE BELIEVE THE BIBLE TO BE THE ONLY INSPIRED, INFALLIBLE, AUTHORITATIVE WORD OF GOD. THE KING JAMES VERSION IS THE OFFICIAL TRANSLATION USED BY THE CHURCH.

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son" (Heb. 1:1-2). Jesus Christ vindicated the inspiration of the Old Testament scriptures by His use of them. Paul explains that partial prophecy will be done away "when that which is perfect is come" (1 Cor. 13:10); that which is perfect in prophecy is the completed canon of scripture: Genesis to Malachi and Matthew to Revelation. Although there have been many translations made of the Bible into dozens of languages over the past hundreds of years, God has shown by man's history that He has chosen those made from the Textus Receptus to break Satan's hold on man and bring the light of the gospel to a lost and dying world as no other source men may claim.

WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IS ONE GOD, ETERNALLY EXISTENT IN THE PERSON OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST.

Jesus told His disciples to go and "teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost" (Matt. 28:19), thus equating all three. Peter clearly proclaims the Holy Ghost to be God as recorded in Acts 5:3-4. Jesus, as we are reminded throughout the gospels, only taught His disciples that which the Father instructed Him to teach; and no Christian would deny the deity of Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE IN THE DEITY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, IN HIS VIRGIN BIRTH, IN HIS SINLESS LIFE, IN HIS MIRACLES, IN HIS VICARIOUS AND ATONING DEATH THROUGH HIS SHED BLOOD ON THE CROSS, IN HIS BODILY RESURRECTION, IN HIS ASCENSION TO THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER, AND IN HIS PERSONAL RETURN IN THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH AND IN POWER AND GREAT GLORY AT HIS REVELATION.

The pivotal point of eternal destiny rests in Jesus Christ. God has so arranged creation, so arranged revelation, so arranged salvation, and has so arranged judgment that none can avoid Him whom God has proclaimed the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person. "There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

WE BELIEVE IN THE PRESENT MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, BY WHOSE INDWELLING THE BELIEVER IS ENABLED TO LIVE A GODLY LIFE.

As Paul asked the believers at Corinth, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" (1 Cor. 3:16). We are sealed by the Holy Spirit, comforted and refreshed by the Holy Spirit. We are to walk in the Spirit, obey the Spirit, be led of the Spirit, and be filled with the Spirit. We are granted access unto the Father by the Holy Spirit; we are given our strength by the Holy Spirit. We are not to grieve Him, nor to quench Him. We are to be led, as Christ was led, by the blessed Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE THAT, FOR THE SALVATION OF LOST AND SINFUL MEN, REGENERATION BY THE HOLY GHOST IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.

Jesus told Nicodemus, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John. 3:5). John the Baptist declared that Jesus "baptizeth with the Holy Ghost" (John 1:33). John, the beloved disciple, records the mission of the Holy Ghost: "He will reprove the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment" (John 16:8). The Holy Spirit works on the hearts of men. He convicts them, converts them, seals and sanctifies them. He teaches them, tempers them, prepares and presents them to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION OF BOTH THE SAVED AND THE LOST: THEY WHO ARE SAVED WILL BE RAISED UNTO THE RESURRECTION OF LIFE, AND THEY WHO ARE LOST WILL BE DOOMED TO THE RESURRECTION OF DAMNATION.

Every man that comes into this world is given his life by Jesus Christ; John proclaims such in the first chapter of his gospel. Every man's soul is eternal. Eternal life (freely given to all who will repent and believe on him whom God has sent) is the opposite of eternal death: "whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Rev. 20:15), "which is the second death" (Rev. 20:14). "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection; on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ" (Rev. 20:6).

WE BELIEVE IN THE SPIRITUAL UNITY OF BELIEVERS IN OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.

"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit" (1 Cor. 12:13). "Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come" (John 16:13). "For God has revealed unto us by His Spirit the things which He has prepared for them that love Him" (1 Cor. 2:9). "This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). "If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).
